Cierra Hinton

As Development Director at Blue Engine, Cierra helps lead our work in supporting mission-driven causes of all stripes, including social justice and news and information organizations. Previously, she was the Executive Director-Publisher at Scalawag, a Southern, Black-led digital media organization that delves deep into the intersections of culture, race, and systems of power and privilege. Before this, Cierra held several strategy and fundraising positions, including at Teach For America and Press On. Cierra centers her work on imagination, play, and community. Her focus is on supporting Black, Indigenous, queer, women, and femme-identifying people and individuals from rural and low-income communities. In the heart of Durham, she's painting a canvas of love, laughter, and shared dreams with her partner, J.
