Andy Bickerton is an analytics strategist and newsroom coach who helps news organizations turn audience, product, and revenue data into clear decisions and measurable growth. Before joining Blue Engine Collaborative, Andy led analytics and digital strategy initiatives at the Christian Science Monitor and NPR, where he worked closely with editorial leadership to build data-informed workflows across reporting, product, and audience teams. His work has included designing newsroom dashboards, building data pipelines, developing SEO and publishing strategies, and helping editors connect audience insights to coverage decisions. At NPR, Andy created a newsroom rotation program that embedded analytics directly within editorial desks, helping teams translate audience data into story framing, headline strategy, and publishing decisions. During one six-week embed with NPR’s Business Desk, those efforts contributed to a 71% increase in traffic to the desk’s stories. Andy specializes in helping newsrooms build practical analytics systems, from dashboards and scorecards to editorial frameworks, that make data usable for journalists and leaders alike. Outside of work, Andy is an avid gamer, musician, and occasional writer on video games for NPR.
