Like The Little Engine That Could, we help people and teams get up over the mountain, with support, kindness and respect.

David Grant, our General Manager: Partnerships, Products, and Strategy, is the bridge between Blue Engine and its friends and partners. Prior to joining Blue Engine, David spent four years at Facebook/Meta, managing many of its programs, investments in local media, and support efforts for news “creators.” His prior experience includes eight years at The Christian Science Monitor where, as associate publisher, he led the team responsible for driving digital and print subscriptions. David joined the Monitor as a Washington D.C.-based political reporter.

Idalmy, Blue Engine's dynamic General Manager of Programs, People, and Operations, has carved a niche as a digital media strategist with a journalist's heart. Idalmy's passion for audience engagement took root in her first job at the nonprofit Chicago News Cooperative and flourished in her last role as Vice President of Audience Engagement and Retention for Tribune Publishing in a hybrid leadership position that spanned editorial and marketing functions. Idalmy worked with the company’s newsrooms, which include the Chicago Tribune, Baltimore Sun and Orlando Sentinel, to hone editorial processes, workflows and best practices -- all with the goal of growing audience and digital subscribers. Based in Chicago-ish, she's a staunch advocate for audience-centric strategies and, secretly, a Google Sheets perfectionist. She's fluent in Spanish -- and memes.

Katie knows how to grow audiences. As the former Vice President of Content at Glacier Media Group she helped drive massive new digital audience reach and engagement. She's known for identifying and nurturing talent within editorial teams, learning the ins and outs of content planning, and fostering robust partnerships across departments. At Blue Engine, she's a hands-on coach who dives deep into technical challenges, emphasizing skill and capability-building as the cornerstones of transformation. Born in Brampton, Ontario, she now calls the suburbs outside Vancouver, British Columbia, home.

Tim believes everyone needs a coach. As Founder & CEO of Blue Engine, Tim understands the power that comes from a helping hand in the face of needed transformational change. He's the former head of revenue products at The New York Times, where he was responsible for growing the digital subscription business and all other digital revenue products. In his 15 years with The New York Times, he also served as director of strategic planning and was the executive editor of a local NYT-owned newspaper in Wilmington, N.C. He's also served as publisher of the Texas Tribune, a nonprofit, nonpartisan startup based in Austin, Texas. Tim is a former coach in the Media Transformation Challenge at Harvard University and the Knight-Lenfest Newsroom Initiative at UNC-Chapel Hill; former program lead for the Table Stakes for commercial television program at the Cronkite School at Arizona State University; co-creator of the American Press Institute’s Better News hub; and co-author of Table Stakes: Getting in the Game of News. He's a recovering Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu addict and hopes to make his children laugh at least once per day.
